On April 22nd this little lady was found on a back road barely able to move. We rushed her to the emergency veterinarian on call. She was in rough shape with a list of medical issues that obviously had been ignored for a long period of time. We knew the odds may not be in her favor, but we needed to give her a chance. We named her Aedra and brought her back to the SPCA. We immediately started her on a medical treatment protocol to see if she would respond. And of course plenty of TLC and attention to show Aedra that people do care and don’t consider her unwanted. We weren’t sure how long we would have with her, perhaps just hours or a couple of days depending on her response to the treatments.
Well, this little lady has rallied beyond our expectations. When she arrived she was barely able to sit up, she wasn’t eating, and she was generally unresponsive. Within days she was showing clear signs of improvement!
Aedra has been back to the veterinarian’s office and they are also encouraged by her progress. She is now sitting up waiting to receive attention, excited for her next meal, loving her time outside for walks, and enjoying interaction with staff and volunteers.
We are ecstatic with Aedra’s progress to date but also understand her delicate health situation. She is diabetic, fighting a uterine infection, and has an eye that will need to be removed.
The veterinarian recommends that we proceed with spaying Aedra to address the uterine infection. The estimated cost of surgery is $500-600. We need to raise this money in order to schedule her surgery. If you would like to donate toward Aedra’s spay, you can contribute in the following ways:
– Send a check to the SPCA, PO Box 375, Olean NY 14760. Please note the donation is for Aedra
– Drop off a check or money to the SPCA located at 2944 Rte 16 Olean.

As always, thank you to everyone who supports us and helps us care for so many animals like Aedra who deserve a second chance.
