REAGAN NEEDS A HOME
*Reagan is approximately 11-12 years old. He originally came to the SPCA as a stray. We believe he’s a Lab/Husky mix, but there could be something another breed or two in there too!
*Reagan loves to go for walks, and LOVES to swim
*He loves going for car rides
*He takes Nose Work classes at the Olean Kennel Club, which he loves
*Reagan loves going to State Parks, out hiking, etc.
Reasons Reagan has been at the Shelter So Long:
*He originally came in as a stray.
*He cannot be adopted out to a home with cats or any small animals, including little dogs. He has a very strong prey drive and will chase and kill any small critters that run in front of his path!
*He cannot be adopted out to a home with children. He doesn’t like it when small children get in his face, and will bite them if they annoy him or invade his space/body.
*Reagan has some “unruly” ways. He will lift his leg all the time. Even with training and consistency, leg lifting is something deeply ingrained in him, although he has been neutered for quite some time. He needs someone that will not be upset or angry by this. He also needs some work on impulse control, as he is the type of dog that will jump on the table if there are leftovers sitting there. He has a short attention span and follows his nose more than directions.
*Reagan also sheds a quite a bit, so he’s not a good match for someone that doesn’t want dog fur all over the floor!
Reagan’s Good Points:
*Reagan would do great in an adult home. (Mature kids 16+ he would most likely do well with.) He is very friendly, grateful and appreciative and warms up quickly to adults.
*Reagan would most likely do well with a laid back dog, (male or female) about his size. He might to a little better with a female. In Reagan’s case, it all depends on the mannerisms of the other dog. He’s not the type of dog that needs to be the only pet, but we wouldn’t place him in a home with any dog, either.
*Reagan walks really well on a leash. With his age, he doesn’t need tons of exercise, but he would love regular walks and hikes. He is a fun dog to hang out with.
*In general, Reagan is really comfortable in different environments. New sounds, sights, and experiences don’t freak him out, and he enjoys new experiences
Please stop by the SPCA if you are interested in meeting Reagan. Or send an e-mail. Thank you.
